Yumthang Valley in Sikkim

Yumthang Valley is one of the most visited places in North East India and is settled at an elevation of 3500m above sea level. This Valley is blessed with many beautiful flowers, which gives it the name Valley of Flowers.

The Valley in Lachung district in North Sikkim is highly picturesque. Green slopes covered with trees, snow-covered mountains in the backdrop, yaks grazing, and a river is flowing right through the Valley, Yumthang a sight to cherish. The flowering of Rhododendrons is over by May end. During monsoons (mid-June till September), the Valley is covered with tiny Himalayan flowers. The colorful blooms include the Primroses, Cinquefoils, Louseworts, and Cobra-lilies. Winters are equally incredible in Yumthang Valley. The entire area gets transformed into a winter wonderland. Skiing has recently been introduced in the Valley, luring adventure enthusiasts' from far and wide.

Best time to visit Yumthang Valley Sikkim

The best time to visit Yumthang Valley depends on the view you would like to enjoy. The summer month is from late March and lasts till June. March is the blooming period of the Rhododendrons. Monsoon brings another natural spectacle, the season of several colorful mountain flowers. However, if you want to enjoy snow and views of snow-capped mountains, then the time of November to February is an ideal time to visit.

How to Reach Yumthang Valley Sikkim

Located in the Lachung district in North Sikkim, Yumthang Valley can only be reached by road. Bagdogra airport, 221 km, is the nearest air connection to reach the Yumthang Valley. The closest railway station is 216 km in the New Jalpaiguri station. You can get taxis, jeeps, and buses to reach this place. Gangtok is around 113 km far, well connected to Lachung with a road transport facility.
