Trekking in Andaman

God has blessed the Andaman and Nicobar Island with abundance of numerous hills, which becomes perfect tracks for trekking in Andaman. The matter of the fact is that trekking is one of the most popular adventure sports in the Andaman and Nicobar islands. Tramping, Backpacking and Bushwalking are the synonyms of this thrilling activity.

Trekking is truly one of the most rewarding things to do in the Andaman Islands, as this place is enveloped by dense tropical rainforests, clubbed with rare wildlife and endemic plants, amounting to 270 avifauna species and 2200 kinds of plants. Sometimes, while trekking expeditions are for a day or two, sometimes they can be weeks long.

There are a number of trekking trails in Andaman, but two of them are extremely popular. One of them is 16 km long Mount Harriet – Madhuban trek. A variety of wild animals, endemic birds and colorful butterflies are the highlights of this wilderness trek. The other one is Diglipur - Saddle Peak trek, which is a rich bio- diverse nature heaven. The highest point on the islands, Saddle peak is quite famous for its trekking experiences. The verdant forest territory is home to 6 types of native trees, 13 native avifauna species and 36 native species of insects

Best time for trekking in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is between November and April, though the peak season is from December to January.
