Hampi is a village in the northern side of Karnataka. Hampi is situated on the banks of the Tungabhadra River. Hampi is basically located within the ruins of Vijayanagara, which was the former capital of the huge Vijayanagara empire. Hampi is a very religious village and centre. According to the history of Hampi, it is said that Hampi formed one of the cores of the capital of the Vijayanagara empire from the year 1336 to the year 1565.
