Overview

The Palace was built between 1928 and 1943 for the honor of and named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, the grand father of our present Maharaja, and served as principal residence place for the Royal family. Maharaja Umaid Singh wanted to replace Mehrangarh Fort with an architecture that could be taken as new symbol of Jodhpur.

Umaid Bhawan Palace is the last of the great palaces of India and designated as one of the largest private residences in the world hosting 347 rooms.

This golden hued desert sandstone architecture marvel was designed by Henry Lanchester the renowned Edwardian architect. The lavish interiors, elegant artwork, gilt furniture and exotic murals are brain work of Polish artist Stefan Norblin.

This luxury building can be reached from Jodhpur Domestic Airport or from Jodhpur Railway station both within 6 kms of radius.

For local sight seeing take the Vintage Cars of Palace on rent and drive up to Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Gangaur, Guda Bishnoi and Osian. Maharaja Suite
Maharaja Suite was the personal residence of Maharaja Umaid Singh, personally designed & renovated by the famous polish artist Stefan Norblin. True to his stature Maharaja Suite is a symbol of Masculinity of the Royal king. There is original painting of Maharaja in the room. The elegantly spacious suite has a large double bed and is accompanied with plush Ruhlmann sofas. The adjoining living room is a place for luxury & leisure. Decorated with murals of horses, leopards, tigers and the famed Jodhpur sport, pig sticking; the shelves are showcasing original artifacts of old times. Maharani Suite
Right across the crystal fountain and separated from Maharaja Suite is the royal house of the beautiful royal lady Maharani Badan Kanwan. Guests are greeted by the Stefan Norblin’s mural work of the ‘Goddess Kali’ etched on shining black glass inside the suite. A spacious bedroom is adjoining with elegantly designed drawing room. The dining room can seat 10 guests and is attached with a Kitchenette. A separate dressing room and large wardrobe is provided too. Pillars, the multi-cuisine restaurant cum café, is aptly setup to suit its name.
