The Indian Army takes care of the Madhuri Lake. There is also a cafeteria near the lake where you can enjoy hot Maggi, momos, and a cup of tea or coffee.

The months from April to October are the best time to visit Madhuri Lake in Tawang. This is because the lake remains frozen during the rest of the year.

How to Reach Madhuri Lake

Madhuri Lake, located approx. 36 km from Tawang, and it takes around 1.5 hours to reach. Also, you need a special permit from the District Commissioner’s Office at Tawang to visit Madhuri Lake. No foreigners are allowed to visit the lake.

You can hire a private car to reach Madhuri Lake. The roads are not so smooth and have 50-plus hairpin bends and narrow gravel roads unguarded by rails. However, the views of snow-clad peaks, glaciers, and water bodies make this road trip enchanting.
