The important festival among the Garos is the Wangala Festival which is the harvest fête held in honor of the Sun God, also known as Salijong. The grand fiesta marks the end of a long period of labor when good days finally come, and it is said that every cloud has a silver lining, so the farmers enjoy their bright silvery days with dance, music, and entertainment.

Another festival known as the Nongkrem is a unique one. It is celebrated among the Khasis, and it is just a secular carnival marked with ballet and songs.

Behdienkhlam is an important religious fiesta that includes young people beating drums all over the village. The end of the festival is marked by fighting between undressed men with swords and is followed by a horse play.
