Uttarakhand rightfully called the abode of the God's houses the most revered place of the Sikhs, "Hemkund Sahib." It is the world's highest Gurudwara, situated at 4,329 meters. The sacred shrine of the Sikhs is located on the shores of Hemkund Lake. A tour to Hemkund allows you to experience the serenity of nature, offering you plenty of opportunities to capture the beauties of the land with your camera.

While on the Hemkund Sahib tour, a visit to Hemkund Sahib is considered the place where Guru Govind Singh had, through meditation, unified with God. The Sikh Guru, in his autobiography, had mentioned helping two devout Sikhs, Sant Sohan Singh, and Havldar Mohan Singh, in their quest for God. According to Hindu Mythology, Laxman, brother of Lord Rama, had done severe penance here. Hemkund is also known as Lokpal.

Govindghat, gateway to Bhyundar or Lakshman Ganga valley. Trekkers trek through pine and rhododendron forests and enjoy the beauty of the wild roses, ferns, and alpine flowers on their way to Hemkund. On your trek to Hemkund, you can see the beautiful Laxman Ganga flowing by. The steep climb to Ghangharia is part of the last 5 km trekking to Hemkund.
