Created in the 14th century, the princely state of Jhalawar is the land of the Jhala clan of Rajputs. It is situated in the southeastern part of Rajasthan. Blessed by a rich history and nature’s wealth, Jhalawar has some exquisite pre-historic cave paintings, massive forts and a diverse range of flora and fauna to boast upon.
One of the most traveled places of Rajasthan, Jhalawar gets very much crowded during its numerous fairs. Must visit fairs in the Jhalawar region are Chandrabhaga fair, Kartik fair and Kaleshwar Mahadev fair.

The major tourist hotspots in the region of Jhalawar are worth a visit. These include the magnificent Gagron fort, which is a world heritage site. The fort was built in the 14th century and is perched at the confluence of Ali and Kali Sindh rivers. Other prominent structure to look for in this past of Rajasthan is the Jhalawar fort, also known as Garh Palace.
Other tourist sites around the district are the Government Museum, Bhawani Natya Shala, Jhalara Patan, Atishay Jain temples, Bhimsagar dam and Manohar Thana fort.

- Road- Jhalawar is well connected to Bundi, Kota and Jaipur by road. The National Highway 12 passes through Jhalawar district.
Best time to visit Jhalawar in Rajasthan
Summers are scorching hot. It is better to visit the place between October and February when the climate is mild. Chandrabhaga Fair is held every year at Jhalarapatan in the month of Kartik (October-November). It is one of the most important festivals in Jhalawar.
