Berijam Lake in Kodaikanal

Surrounded with acacia (genus of shrubs and herbs) and pine, Berijam is a wonderful lake. The lake is settled at the old site ‘fort Hamilton’, in the upper Palani hills in Dindigul district. It is one of the most popular attractions in Kodaikanal town, alluring thousands of travelers.

Amidst the lush greenery, the lake appears to be a pleasing paradise. With the excellent water quality, Berijam Lake plays a vital role in serving Periyakulam town (18km away).

Whether it be a nature lover or adventure, Berijam does not seem to disappoint both. Go for trekking in the green jungles and boating on the pristine lake. Around the lake, you can spot some rare species of Bison, deer’s, panthers and snakes. Moreover, the place is home to various medicinal plants namely Digitalis, Pyrethrum, Belladona and Mentha.
